Music Trendsetter [Chart 7 = September 3 - 9, 2011]

My apologies for not updating the charts for the past few weeks. Anyhow, we're here again to track the top ten songs that are trending the airwaves for the past week. We've got two new entries in our countdown, dropping an OPM track and one of the longest resident songs out in our charts for this week. I miss making a quick reviews on the new tracks seating in the charts. So, let's get the ball rolling and begin knowing these two new tracks that graced our trendsetter list for the week.

Entering at the eight spot is from an indie hipster pop ground Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks". This song was considered as a crossover and a sleeper hit, garnering airplay on various modern rock and contemporary hit radio station. Pumped Up Kicks received a lot of positive reviews from music critics due to its upbeat music and eerie vocal harmonies. The melody is very catchy; its electro-lite dance pop tune will certainly draw partygoers attention, as well as those just listening to their iPods and MP3s. Nevertheless, this track is one of the best summer song of 2011.

The highest new entry in the trendsetter list is from K-Pop rising idols INFINITE with their song Be Mine, gracing at the seventh spot. After debuting in South Korea last year, INFINITE gained positive reviews from their fans and K-Pop critics with this song. Be Mine is a song about the guys protecting a girl who is being bombarded with bullets. Its ironic presentation of melancholic lyrics and upbeat tune make their fans begging for more. Also, their choreography in their video is highly commendable.

In our Trendsetter list this week, Katy Perry and Britney Spears drops from their respective positions last week, sharing the ninth spot with their songs Last Friday Night and I Wanna Go. Foster the People and INFINITE enters the charts with their songs Pumped Up Kicks and Be Mine at numbers eight and seven spot respectively. Lady Gaga's Yoü and I drops a notch this week, placing at number six. The Asian groups 2NE1 and Kis-My-Ft2 shares the fouth spot with their songs Ugly and Everybody Go. Bad Meets Evil and Bruno Mars manages to seat on the third spot with their collaboration track entitled Lighters.  Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's Moves Like Jagger maintains their spot at number two. Lastly, the kings of K-Pop Super Junior keeps holing the crown as the Top Trendsetter Song of the week with Mr. Simple.

Love and... Lying? [Lie to Me (koreanovela review)]

Alright. I'll admit it. I am fascinated with Korean series, which will lead to avid watcher, and eventually... alright. I'm becoming a fan of some Korean series.

Their dramas and sequels never fail to amuse watchers across the globe (more or less) because of their unique plots and unexpected twists (on few of their produced series). They don't usually go with some common plots such as forbidden love between a rich bachelor and a poor lady, switching babies, serial killing, and so forth. There are plenty of good points that a Korean drama possesses. First, almost all of their series don't last long unlike other series that last for up to a couple of years (which are tormenting to watch). Secondly, you'll never get lost when you are following the storyline, unlike other telenovelas that are fond of going around the bush. Lastly, they end their series that watchers will beg for more. Some of the renowned Koreanovelas  that captivated watchers from different places around the world are Lovers in Paris, Winter Sonata, Full House and Boys Over Flowers.

I was in the middle of watching the third season of Prison Break when my guy cousins were talking about this hilarious Korean series that their girlfriends suggested them to watch. It was uncommon to hear this from men, especially those who are girl-crazy and lazy to follow TV series. However, some of my friends recommended to try watch this amusing tale about a woman who lied about being married to a handsome bachelor and a president of one reputable hotel chains in South Korea.

Lie to Me is a South Korean series top-billed by Yoon Eun-hye, who is known from Princess Hours and Coffee Prince, and Kang Ji-hwan from Coffee House. The story revolves around a girl name Gong Ah-jung (Eun-hye), a fifth level government employee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who lies to her friends that she is married to Hyun Ki-joon (Ji-hwan), a handsome yet obsessive-compulsive president of the World Hotel Company. Because of this lie, Ki-joon becomes miserable as his friends also believe that he is married to Ah-jung. After a long argument and disagreements, they eventually agreed in pretending to be married. Things got worse when Ki-joon's brother and his ex-fiance appears on the scene. On the verge of their fake marriage, they fell in love with each other.

Lie to Me contains a lot of good points and a couple of setbacks. I liked how the show presented their storyline: simple yet catchy. It will really leave watchers to beg for more. Also, Eun-hye and Ji-hwan played their characters very well, especially to Ji-hwan's humor. It was really fun watching him - being serious turned into a funny guy. In addition, the elements of excitement and fun are consistent all throughout the series. Lastly, i liked how they presented the values that viewers can get while watching the series. However, there's a tendency that viewers might forget this series at all. Nevertheless, Lie to Me is a show that will give you tummy aches because of their funny and side-splitting scenes you'll certainly enjoy.
